Japanese Tourist Harassed Near Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur; Police Launch Manhunt for Five Accused

Jaipur: A Japanese tourist was allegedly harassed by a group of five men near Jaipur’s historic Jaigarh Fort, triggering a police investigation and raising concerns about tourist safety in the popular heritage destination.

According to police officials, the incident occurred on Sunday morning when the woman was walking toward a nearby Ganesh temple near the Amer–Jaigarh Fort area. The accused allegedly stopped her on a secluded stretch of road, grabbed her hand and misbehaved with her.

The tourist reportedly managed to free herself and ran toward the fort premises, where she alerted security guards about the incident. By the time guards reached the location, the accused had already fled the spot.

Police said the woman had arrived in Rajasthan from Japan just a few days earlier and was visiting the popular tourist attractions in Jaipur. She later lodged a formal complaint at the Amer police station.

Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area has captured the suspected youths walking down the hill after the incident, which is being used to identify and trace them.

In a recent development, police have arrested one accused and detained a minor in connection with the case, while a search operation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Officials assured that the tourist was safely escorted back to her hotel and that necessary security assistance is being provided.

The incident has sparked concern over the safety of international tourists in Jaipur, a city known for its heritage sites such as Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort, which attract thousands of visitors every year. Authorities have said that strict action will be taken against those involved and that efforts are underway to ensure such incidents do not recur.
