Jaipur, July 9, 2026: In a shocking case that has stunned Rajasthan, Jaipur Police have arrested a 23-year-old woman along with six others for allegedly conspiring to murder her mother in a plot driven by family property and the prospect of securing a government job on compassionate grounds. Investigators claim the accused attempted to disguise the killing as a road accident.
According to police, the victim, Neeraj Sharma, 45, was working as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in a Jaipur court after receiving a compassionate appointment following the death of her husband. She died on July 3 after being struck by a speeding SUV in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area. Initially believed to be a hit-and-run accident, the case took a dramatic turn after the victim’s brother alleged foul play and filed a complaint naming family members.
During the investigation, police alleged that the victim’s daughter, Ayushi Sharma, conspired with relatives and hired contract killers to execute the murder. Investigators claim the accused paid approximately ₹7 lakh to carry out the attack and deliberately staged it to resemble an accidental road crash in an attempt to mislead authorities.
Police said the alleged motive behind the crime was to gain control of family property and become eligible for a compassionate government appointment following the victim’s death. According to investigators, the victim had previously complained to relatives about disputes over property and alleged harassment by members of the family.
So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the case, while one accused is reportedly absconding. Police have recovered the SUV allegedly used in the crime and are examining digital records, financial transactions, and statements from the accused as part of the ongoing investigation.
Senior police officials stated that evidence collected during the investigation, including witness statements and technical analysis, led investigators to conclude that the incident was a premeditated murder rather than a traffic accident. The accused have been produced before a court, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The case has sparked widespread public outrage due to the alleged involvement of the victim’s own daughter and close relatives. It has also reignited discussions on crimes motivated by financial gain, inheritance disputes, and the misuse of compassionate appointment provisions.
Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that the allegations against the accused will be examined through the judicial process. Police have appealed to the public to avoid speculation while the case proceeds in court.
